Job Title: Senior Fraud & Financial Crime Operations Analyst

Salary: £40,000 to £45,000

Location: Solihull

Hours: Average of 37.5 hours per week over a 6-day period – Monday to Friday 08:30 – 19:00 (1 hour lunch) and Saturday 09:00 – 14:00 (0 break). There is a hybrid working pattern and you would be expected into the office 2 days a week at least.

Description:

We are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-respected and long-established financial services company based in Solihull who is currently recruiting to expand their innovative and energetic team.

You’ll be the first line of defence in protecting against Financial Crime and Fraud. You will act as point of contact for customers who need help and support through either call, in-app chat, or secured message service from a Financial Crime perspective.

You will not only understand Financial Crime and Fraud risks, but also possess an investigative mindset to question activity of concern. You will take ownership of assigned tasks, work in a great team and be able to work in a timely and accurate manner.

Key Duties:

  • Review and action output from financial crime systems in relation to regulatory screening of AML/KYC, fraud screening and transaction monitoring to identify cases of suspicious customer activity.
  • Undertake reviews maintaining SLA’s and appropriate record keeping.
  • Interrogate and action intelligence appropriately identifying risk areas.
  • Resolving ad-hoc AML/KYC queries relating to customers’ accounts.
  • Work alongside the Financial Crime Operations Manager and Head of Financial Crime Operations to investigate customers, conduct Enhanced Due Diligence and submit for MLRO approval where necessary.
  • Use own judgement – knowing when to escalate customers who do not meet standards or risk appetite which may include recommending customer exits.
  • Speak to customers/challenge where financial crime concerns exist.
  • Conduct comprehensive and robust Customer Due Diligence (CDD) & Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) reviews on ad hoc referrals, Customer Risk Assessments, and periodic reviews – submitting for MLRO approval where necessary.
  • Using analytical and judgement skills to determine whether correct decisions have been made and supporting your decisions with clear rationales and evidence.
  • Ensuring that KYC and CDD checks undertaken by operational areas are in line with guidelines & processes and are compliant with relevant external regulations.
  • Review and assess suspicious activity referrals received across the Group
  • Ensuring the correct risk ratings are assigned by Analysts to customer files and identifying where information may be missing. Approving Customer Risk Assessment submissions
  • Continually seek to improve the fraud prevention and detection processes and the recording and monitoring methods within FC.
  • Respond to law enforcement referrals within the confines of the law relating to financial crime and within the agreed timescales.
  • Produce evidence packages.
  • Identify potential intelligence for cascading to other lenders.
  • Remain abreast of legislation, regulation, trends, and media information in relation to financial crime for dissemination to the FC team and where necessary
  • MI data updates

Key Skills/Experience Required:

  • Experience with Anti-Money Laundering / Know Your Customer/ Fraud/ Sanctions policies & procedures and case management systems.
  • Understanding of digital first and mobile app services.
  • The ability to use your initiative working alone and as an effective team member.
  • Experience of working cases related to Financial Crime and Fraud typologies.
  • Experience in a KYC role and the ability to analyse transaction activity against KYC standards.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines.
  • Have an excellent understanding and demonstration of business awareness.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills with an attention to detail.
  • An ability to develop and maintain internal and external business relationships to exchange routine and non-routine information clearly and concisely.
  • An ability to develop technical knowledge on an ongoing basis and effectively impart learning with team members.
  • An ability to embrace change and encourage others to do the same.
  • Displays a passion for Financial Crime and shows understanding of how the work you do relates to the wider business and public domain
  • An ability to identify relevant required enhancements to existing processes and procedures in line with monitoring and regulatory requirements.
  • Possess relevant industry qualifications such as International Compliance Association (ICA) Diploma, Association of Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS) CAMS certification.
  • The role may involve travel to industry meetings, so a clean driver’s licence is desired.

In return for your hard work, you will earn a starting salary of £40,000 – £45,000 and excellent benefits.
