JOB TITLE: Community Advice Hub Money Advice Team Leader

LOCATION: The main base for the purpose of travel and expenses is The Core, Solihull B91 3RG. There will be a requirement to work from any Community Advice Hub or Age UK Solihull Office without notice in line with the needs of the organisation now and in the future. Some working from home may be required. The post requires travel across the borough of Solihull and to Tribunals as required.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Hubs Manager

RESPONSIBLE FOR: Debt and Benefit Caseworkers and Volunteers in the absence of the Hubs Manager

JOB PURPOSE: To support the development of the Community Advice Hubs, ensuring compliance with the Care Act 2014. To promote health and wellbeing, through the provision of prevention, early intervention and crisis support leading to improved outcomes for individuals and communities. To provide supervision and support to staff and/or volunteers, ensuring compliance with legislation and regulation, review the quality of work of advisers/caseworkers and provide a high quality debt and benefits casework service.

DUTIES:

1. Lead on the provision of debt and benefits casework ensuring compliance with FCA Regulation, legislation and the requirements of Age UK Solihull and it’s funders.

2. Provide an appropriate level of support and supervision to staff and volunteers depending on their level of experience and knowledge.

3. Monitor and authorise the case records/correspondence of staff and volunteers to meet quality standards.

4. Ensure that gaps in service and operational difficulties are identified and acted on to develop individuals, improve the quality of advice, and ensure clients do not suffer detriment due to poor or inadequate advice.

5. Keep technical knowledge up to date and provide technical support to advisors and/or caseworkers.

6. Monitor and evaluate activities and contribute to the organisation’s planning process by providing regular reports and feedback on the areas of responsibility.

7. To carry a caseload of casework.

8. Participate in recruitment and selection activities as delegated.

9. Lead on the induction of new staff and volunteers and ongoing training of the wider team.

10. Ensure the effective performance management and development of debt and benefit advisers and case workers (both staff and volunteers) through regular supervision sessions and learning and development.

11. Contribute to the training and development needs of the organisation and individuals.

12. Identify and implement own learning and development needs and take steps to address these.

13. To support the development of systems required to implement the Community Advice Hubs, including identification of areas of improvement and improvements to service delivery.

14. To maintain databases and comply with monitoring and reporting requirements.

15. Keep up to date with legislation, case law, policies and procedures relating to debt and welfare benefits and undertake appropriate training.

16. Keep up to date with research and campaigns issues and ensure research and campaigns are promoted and integrated into service delivery.

17. To proactively promote the Community Advice Hubs to existing and new partner organisations, and to residents themselves. 1

8. To attend any training or meetings deemed necessary.

19. To work as part of the wider Hubs team, take a flexible approach, and be led by demand across all parts of the service and wider organisation.

20. To undertake any other duties that are required.

Additional Notes All staff are expected to work flexibly in terms of location and to undertake any role within the Community Advice Hub/Information and Advice Services Team as required.

All staff have a particular responsibility for ensuring that Safeguarding Adults legislation and guidelines are adhered to, that the well-being of at risk individuals is promoted and that at risk individuals are aware of their right to protection from all forms of abuse.

A full driving licence and use of a car is essential.
