Carer/Support Worker/PA

Are you that special person we are looking for?

We require someone to help 1 day a week on Thursdays 10-3pm assisting our 22 year old non verbal son who has autism and severe learning difficulties. You will be working with another PA (2:1). Thursdays involve swimming at a school where we hire the pool for one hour just for our son and his two PA’s. One will swim (the water is only 1 metre deep) whilst the other PA is a spotter. Whoever swims will need to deal with personal care of showering and dressing him. If swimming is cancelled by the school which sometimes happens then another activity will be planned as a replacement.

Outings and planned activities are at no cost to PA’s. Preferably a driver who can drive our son’s automatic Motability car (needs to be 25+ as per Motability insurance requirement).

Experience in SLD and/or autism preferred, but not essential.

5 hours per week @ £12.14 per hour paid through PeoplePlus payroll company (before deductions). Holiday pay pro rata. The rate of pay is decided by Social Services (direct payments). We do not have any say about the rate of pay.

There is also opportunities to work other days during the week to cover PA’s sickness/absences.

The successful candidate will be caring and patient and need to undertake a DBS unless they already have a current one.
