Job Title: Specialist Disability Advisor

Salary: £23,384 – £25,927

Duration: Permanent

Location: Based between central Solihull & Chelmsley Wood – with remote working

Hours: Monday – Friday 09.30 – 15.00 with some flexibility

Description:

Proud to be supporting a local charity, this role may be of interest to candidates with past experience as a Welfare Advisor, Benefits Advisor or Caseworker.

Acting as the main point of contact for frontline support and specialist information. You will be providing advice and casework assistance for disabled people with physical and learning difficulties.

Key Duties:

  • Provide a high quality, impartial information, advice and casework support to clients, adult and children, supporting them to address presenting issues that may include – housing, welfare, benefit entitlements, debt, personal budgets, access to statutory and other services
  • Deliver a service co-produced with local partners and serviced users
  • Explore individual and family situations through the process of holistic assessment where appropriate
  • Ensure all information and resources are up to date and available in a range of formats
  • Offer front line hub advice, specialise casework and appointments, complying with all operation policies and procedures
  • Develop positive working relationships with partnering agencies, ensuring referrals are strong, relevant, and appropriate
  • Actively promote the charity and hub to existing and new partner organisations
  • Maintain the database and reporting requirements
  • Comply with GDPR, Data protection, safeguarding and equal opportunities

Key Skills/Experience Required:

  • Ability to work between central Solihull and Chelmsley Wood – both sites are easily accessible via public transport
  • An enhanced DBS disclosure check will be required
  • Previous experience working in an advice/support setting
  • Proven track record of advocating and offering support regarding housing/welfare, debt, personal budgets, access to statutory and other services
  • A good working knowledge and understanding of the support services available and referral processes to statutory and non-statutory agencies
  • A good understanding of safeguarding procedures for children and vulnerable adults
  • Part remote working offered after a successful probation
  • Pc literate – accurate data entry skills and experience in maintaining client case files
  • Excellent communication and time management skills

This is a rewarding role, offering a salary of £23,384 – £25,927.
